2023 Wyndham Championship props: Odds, picks, and long shots
The Wyndham Championship will be the last shot for FedEx Cup hopefuls to secure their spot in the top 70 and punch a ticket to the first round of the playoffs at the St. Jude Championship beginning on Aug. 10.
Below are our top Wyndham Championship props, including Denny McCarthy, Justin Thomas and more.
Wyndham Championship best bets: Denny McCarthy Top 20 finish (+110 or better)
Denny McCarthy is still without a PGA Tour victory, but he’s been knocking on the door this season. The 30-year-old has collected a half dozen top-10 finishes, including a heartbreaking playoff loss to Viktor Hovland at The Memorial a few weeks ago.
Before missing the cut at the British Open, McCarthy had strung together four rounds of T6, T7, P2, and T20 (U.S. Open). The Maryland native is currently 32nd in OWGR and 25th in FedEx Cup points.
His putting has been lights out this year, ranking near the top in most major categories (1st in putting inside 10 feet), and his SG: Total is 16th on Tour.
Wyndham Championship props: Justin Thomas odds to miss cut (+170 or better)
If the sportsbooks keep giving us plus-money odds on JT to miss the cut, we’ll happily take them. Thomas has had a disastrous year which will likely culminate with a finish outside the 70 FedEx Cup hopefuls (currently 79th) and a snub for the Ryder Cup team.
The two-time major winner has missed five cuts in his last seven tournaments, including a depleted 3M Open field last week in Minneapolis. It’s been tough to watch someone as talented as Thomas struggle so mightily, but at this point, a Hail Mary in the season’s finale seems unlikely.
Wyndham Championship long shot picks: Sungjae Im Round 1 leader (+4000 or better)
Sungjae Im has had an up-and-down season that has earned him seven top-10 finishes, as well as six missed cuts. But the former PGA Tour Rookie of the Year fits nicely for a long-shot bet at a course he's played extremely well at.
In his four appearances at the Wyndham Championship, Im has racked up three top-10 finishes and a T24. He finished T2 last year, firing a sizzling opening round 63.
The talented South Korean sits comfortably in the middle of the FedEx Cup points pack (36th) and will look to finish the season on a high note before the first round of playoffs at St. Jude on Aug. 10.
Wyndham Championship prop bets: J.T. Poston to win Group C (+220 at FanDuel)
J.T. Poston’s current form alone is enough to make this bet, but he’s also a former Wyndham Championship winner (2019). Poston is fresh off a T2 at the 3M Open and has put together three top-10 finishes (T2, T6, T6) in his last four tournaments.
The course at Sedgefield Country Club rewards fairway accuracy and solid approach shots, which suits Poston nicely as he’s No. 1 on Tour in approaches from 75-100 yards. The 30-year-old finished T21 at last year’s Wyndham Championship.
Other golfers in Group C: Alex Smalley, Adam Scott, Ludvig Aberg.
