It’s time to party in Saudi Arabia! (Just no booze, please.)
Powerhouse Argentina had a 36-game unbeaten streak going into the World Cup, facing off against Saudi Arabia in what originally looked like an easy group win for the Lionel Messi-led squad. However, Saudi Arabia shocked the world, getting a 2-1 upset win that rocked the entire landscape of the FIFA World Cup.
Now, Saudi Arabia will be taking the whole day off Nov. 23 to celebrate the victory.
“The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques directs that tomorrow, Wednesday, be a holiday for all employees in all sectors of the state and the private sector, as well as male and female students in all educational stages,” read the Twitter account @SaudiNews50.

This is basically a ratcheted up version of when American parents take their kids out of school to go to a championship parade or some special sporting event. I couldn’t imagine the entire United States shutting down over winning the entire World Cup, let alone over a single victory. We work way too hard for that.
Which got me thinking: This is exactly why the United States of America is the greatest power in the world.
Say what you want about Americans working too hard, ignoring their health in the process, all that blah. That’s exactly why the U.S. pops so much and why we’re so spoiled with our lifestyle and culture. (RELATED: Whatever Nation Wins The World Cup Will Get All Of The Budweiser Beers That Qatar Banned)
We’re not like Saudi Arabia. We’re not like Italy where we need to take a nap from 2:00-5:00 p.m. in the middle of the day. This is America, where we get super drunk on Super Bowl Sunday and then take to work the next morning, hungover.
I wouldn’t have it any other way.
